Words hurt when…
“To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour.”
Churchill, likey Harrow School in 1941
I’m not terribly surprised, but not long after posting my Reelay on Chris Rock’s “Selective Outrage” I noticed the internet went nuts with how many times the triggered folks… Who of course could not resist watching Netflix anyways…. Which is why Chris Rock has so much material to work with. Setting aside the F*bomb a minute, I was fine with his special, but it’s not on my Reelay Family Watchlist.
Chris Rock was handed his moment in the most incongruous of ways, a slap in the face at the Oscars. And now, almost a year after, he answered. “People that say words hurt, haven’t been hit in the face. Words hurt, when they’re written on a brick”.
What I like most about Chris Rock, perhaps is that he refuses to be a victim. I got parents, he said, and my parents taught me “don’t fight in front of white people”.
The world is nuts, but Chris Rock is funny.
