Weekend Watercolor #49 — Breakfast Chai, Villefranche-sur-Mer
There’s a window in Villefranche-sur-Mer I think about more than I should.
An old green chair. A lace curtain lifting in the morning air. The terracotta rooftops stepping down to the bay, which was doing that thing the Côte d’Azur does — turning a shade of blue that doesn’t exist anywhere else. Sailboats out there. No one in a rush. No one needing to be.
I sat in that chair, looked out that window, and understood something about pace that I’ve been trying to hold onto ever since.

Watercolor is one of the few places I’ve found it again. The colors move on their own. The light goes where it wants. You can chase it or you can let go — and the paintings where I let go are always the ones worth keeping.
This one, I let go.
